Notes Samuel Topham (1788-1861?) was the first photographer in Leeds. Together with Hugh Pritchard he bought a licence from Beard and opened a studio at 27 Park Lane, Leeds on the 14th April 1842. They called it "The Photographic Portrait Gallery". Topham later moved to 5 West Bar in 1849. He was also an engraver, lithographer, copperplate-printer, and photograph colourist. |
Below some other examples from the Topham studio. Photos found on the internet.
